Tara was born in 2003. She was found in a village on Borneo and she was brought to the Nyaru Mentengs centre on Borneo. She was extremely small - was about 6-7 months old but with a weigth of only 2 kg - just a little more than a new born orangutan. Tara is a victim of the palm
oil industriesī ruthless fell of the rain forest.

Tara is learning to be a real wild orangutan - she loves to climb the tall trees -  and one day
 - one day she will be able to live as a wild orangutan in the rain forest that BOS has saved.

Tara lives in the Nyaru Mentengs centre - run by Danish Lone D. Nielsen
The centre is part of BOS (Borneo Oragutan Survival Foundation) and right
now there are more than 650 orangutans living there - saved from the consequences
of the palm oil production. Without BOS these animal would either die or be sold
on the illegal pet market. UNīs enviroment program estimates, that without help
the orangutan will be wiped out in 15-20 years.
