Thousands of galgos (and other dogs) are brutally
tortured and killed every year in Spain: Hanged,
poisened, starved, beaten to death, dumped and left to
die. Galgos are hunting dogs and at the end of the
hunting season thousands of dogs are killed or dumped -
the dogs that the hunters no longer want.
Compassionate people in Spain do all they can to help as
many of these beautiful dogs as possible. Galgo SOS
in Denmark supports their work with donations and
adoptions of dogs to Denmark. Yum was rescued with 5
other galgos in Palmete (later 50 dogs were rescued from
the same area) and brought to the Scoopy Medina
Shelter. Many more dogs never get the help they need.
The people at Scoopy Medina work very, very hard but
they desperately need funds. The pictures below show
Yum when he was rescued: |

Yum is in Denmark now
and he has got a new name: Messi.
He lives
a perfect galgo-life in Hedehusene with Mette Kirchner
and her family
including another galdo and a poodle. Mette was only
meant to foster Messi until a loving forever home was
found, but of course Mette totally fell in love with
this handsome and gentle boy, so they soon decided,
that the house in Hedehusene will be the place where
Messi will live forever.
The pictures below are
from Messi´s new home. Hard to believe that Messi was
once an abused and starved hunting dog. No way for a dog
to live. This is much better - all dogs deserve a
life like Messi: Lots of love, a loving and caring
family, good friends to play with,a soft bed,
healthy food and humans who will die for them. |

Good luck to sweet little Messi, and thanks so
much to Mette for giving this adorable baby a second
chance and a new life in total love. (Since Messi
arrived in Denmark he ceased being a sponsor dog - but
his story deserves to known and not forgotten) |
